About the Project

The National Biomedical and Biotechnological Park in Olomouc (NBBP) is a cooperation project of the public and private sectors, and its partners include the statutory city of Olomouc, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Palacký University Olomouc together with the University Hospital Olomouc, business company Technologický park a.s., and the MedChemBio cluster.

NBBP located in the south-western part of Olomouc next to a two-level crossing of highways is being created in a close connection with Palacký University Olomouc. The development area of about 30ha is comprised of individual plots of land with transportation networks and utility lines provided, and is suitable for the entrance and business activity of large companies as well as medium-sized and smaller enterprises. At the same time, it becomes a suitable hinterland for newly created spin-off and start-up companies from the university research environment. The project is executed by a private developer.

Palacký University Olomouc is a university with a 440-years-long tradition. Currently, it presents itself as a modern educational institution with a broad offer of fields of study and with rich scientific activities. More than 23,000 students study at its 8 faculties which creates a dynamic potential at the city of Olomouc of about 100,000 inhabitants. The key research activities at the Palacký University are focused on the biomedical, biotechnology, and new material fields, and are implemented through the research infrastructures of the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials, and Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research.

The Statutory city of Olomouc is a historical university city that – on a long-term basis and in line with its Strategic development plan of the city of Olomouc – supports university education, state-of-the-art development, innovations, and transfer of attained results into practice though diverse projects of the Palacký University and other educational institutions within the city of Olomouc.

Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic is the central state administration body that either directly or through the CzechInvest agency builds up business structures with the purpose of advanced technological centres coming into being.
